In recent years, the Grammy-nominated Scottish musician has focused on a trilogy of albums, each themed around soul, body, and mind. Beginning with KIN (2016) for the soul, WAX (2018) for the body, and most recently NUT for the mind, this series explores her artistic evolution and life’s patterns. Produced by Martin Terefe, NUT draws on West African rhythms to metaphorically represent the brain’s learning pathways. Tracks like “Canyons” and “Private Eyes” delve into themes of personal identity and fame, while “Three” reflects on the trilogy’s overarching exploration of mind, body, and soul. Tunstall emphasizes her drive to avoid creative repetition, always seeking fresh and meaningful directions in her music.
