Blackjack is a fun and exciting game. It’s fast-paced, it’s easy to play, and the odds are good that you’ll win – so long as you know how to follow a strategy and when to walk away. Blackjack is a great game to play if you are new to cards or new to casino games. It’s one of the easiest games to learn how to play. You start with two cards, and you have the opportunity to ask for additional cards to try to get to a point value of 21. If you can get to 21, or get closer to 21 than the dealer does, you win. If you go over 21, or if the dealer has a higher number (also without going over 21), you lose. With a few strategies in mind, you can quickly master it and increase your chances of winning.

Here are five tips for playing Blackjack as a beginner:

Expect the Next Card to be a 10

All cards have the value of their number, and the face cards (jack, queen, and king) are valued at 10. When you are considering asking for another card, always assume that the next card will have a value of 10 because, statistically, the chances are very good that it will.

Always Split Aces

An ace in Blackjack can count as 1 or 11. If you get two aces, split them into two hands. Since the odds are good that the next card is a 10, you have just doubled your chances of getting 21 and winning.

Know When to Double Down

Doubling down means to double your bet, increasing your potential winnings. There are several scenarios in which it is advantageous to double down. The most common scenario is when you have a total of 11 in your hand and the dealer’s up card is anything other than an ace. You are in a good position to win, and if you double your bet at this point, you’ll increase your winnings significantly.

Use Hand Signals

Dealers are trained to follow your hand signals when playing, not your verbal cues. If you want another card, it is customary to use your hand to “scratch” the table between you and the dealer. If you want to stay where you are, with no extra cards, just wave your hand parallel to the table over your cards.

Sign Up for the House Rewards System

Rewards programs help you to win money or extra perks the more you play and the more you bet. These rewards will accrue whether you win or lose. If you don’t sign up for the program, you will be leaving money on the table, no matter the outcome of your Blackjack hand.

You can have a lot of fun playing Blackjack, and if you’re lucky and you follow the right strategies, you can win a lot of money. Visit the Spokane Tribe Casino today to try out Blackjack or some other table games. Enjoy a cocktail, watch a game, and have a great time.
